Smile for the Camera is a film piece in which the subject was left alone for 30 minutes with a camcorder and the single instruction to smile for the camera. The subject did not know that this would be the task until moments before filming. In 2012 the film was exhibited as an identical four screen installation at the LCC MA Interim exhibition and as a single screen window projection at The Underground Gallery. The film was shortlisted and exhibited as a single screen installation at CSM, Kingsgate Workshop Trust and the Menier gallery as one of the winning pieces of the Xhibit 2012 prize. It was then also selected as the judges choice to be featured in a further solo exhibition at the JaguarShoes Collective Film Gallery as a single screen installation in August 2012.
